Our Employee Spotlight series profiles some of the best and brightest of MaintenX who make us leaders in total facilities repair day in and day out.
Your title and role?
Field Supervisor, Service, responsible for ensuring that our customers receive the highest level of service possible for all the maintenance and repair services we provide for plumbing, electrical, and general building construction.
Number of years you’ve been working in construction, repair and maintenance?
I’ve been a member of the MaintenX team for six years now and been in the industry for 14 years. Prior to that, I served as a deputy sheriff for four years in Autauga County, Alabama, in the center of the state and next to the county where the capital, Montgomery, is located.
Areas of construction, repair and maintenance you specialize in?
My areas of expertise span the range. I have a construction degree and a master plumbing license, and I’ve gained a lot of skills in carpentry after many years on the job.
What you’re working on this month?
A major irrigation project for a large retailer, and a number of minor building repairs for another customer.
Favorite part about helping make a repair or complete an installation to address a customer’s problem?
Simply seeing the joy of a customer when you can get their business back online. What may be a difficult problem for them to figure out and take the next steps on is one that may be an easy one for me, and in these cases, I can help them quickly fix everything and return to business as usual.
Proudest career accomplishment at MaintenX?
Being a member of the MaintenX team that was one of the first maintenance teams to arrive on-site at Panama City, Florida, to help people there who had been hit by Hurricane Michael, a Category 5 storm with winds over 150 miles per hour, in 2018. It was a privilege to be able to use my skills to help people whose homes and lives had been so devastated.
Best overall part about working at MaintenX?
In addition to being able to help customers solve their problems, being able to work with such a knowledgeable and dedicated team of co-workers, and also to help new team members learn and grow.
Things you like to do outside of work?
Spend time with wife, children, and grandchildren, and vacation in the Caribbean. I’ve taken cruises to places like Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and the Bahamas, and look forward to many more.
