Employee Spotlight: Leslie Warner

Employee Spotlight: Leslie Warner

Our employee Spotlight series profiles some of the best and brightest of MaintenX who make us leaders in total facilities repair day in and day out.

Your Title and role?

Director of Billing. Specifically, I’m responsible for auditing and adherence to customer billing requirements and contracts. More broadly, I’m responsible for learning about and understanding all our customers, small and large.

Number of years you’ve been at MaintenX?

Nineteen years and four months!

Areas of construction, repair, and maintenance you specialize in?

Although I don’t actually perform repairs in my role, my exposure to this industry has made me somewhat of a handywoman around home. If I can bill it, I can fix it. (Sort of. Ha!) I also used to help out with actual repairs at customer sites, but this was some time ago, when I was a spring chicken!

What you’re working on this month?

Updating internal service codes, streamlining the billing process to allow faster and more accurate invoice submission to our customers, and sharing my years of knowledge with new members of the MaintenX team. I’m staying busy for sure!

Favorite part about helping make a repair or complete an installation to address a customer’s problem?

Speaking with customers, as the voice behind MaintenX name, and making our customers feel comfortable to call with any problem, whether it’s billing, repair, or something else. I feel that in this age of rapid technology advancement and automation, it can be easy to lose the human connection, so it’s rewarding for me to be able to speak person to person with customers.

Proudest career accomplishment at MaintenX?

Implementing a new work-order management software system in 2013. I was responsible for the data integrity and data transfer areas of the system, and testing and ensuring the ease of use for the new system functions that involved these areas. The project involved eight team members and took half a year to complete, but it was rewarding on so many levels. The system allowed a faster and easier process for our customers, enabled our team an application we could use to create and manage orders more accurately and efficiently, and provided our company a more flexible and modern program that we could use as a foundation for the future to further add to and adjust as we grew and gained more customers and more service offerings.

Best overall part about working at MaintenX?

Having the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life and being able to learn so much about different cultures and languages. I’ve been able to work one on one with so many owners/customers and learn about their lives and businesses. Also what I would say is the best part about working at MaintenX has been having the freedom to apply my love for computers to make our processes smoother. I believe in working smarter, not harder because I like to have some time to poke fun at and share a laugh with my co-workers every now and then! 🙂

Things you like to do outside of work?

I love to crochet ( and not your grandmother’s crochet!), listening to true-crime podcasts, and playing World of Warcraft (my secret addiction). I’m a true computer nerd. 🙂

Some of my many crochet creations. Although I’m not an Eagles fan, I consider the last creation one of my best pieces of work!

Favorite movie?

I will give you my top three. Whenever they are on, I am watching Gladiator, Tombstone, or Imitation of Life.

Favorite place to travel?

New York City!

Enjoying a night on the town in New York with some of my best friends some years ago.
