Your title and role?

Field Supervisor and Lead Field Plumbing Technician. I’m responsible for a wide range of projects but usually focus on plumbing projects and service calls ranging from sewer main line digs and repairs, to commercial water heater installations, to large commercial 10-inch backflow device replacements.

Number of years you’ve been working in construction, repair and maintenance?

I’ve been with MaintenX for almost 10 years but have been in the plumbing industry for almost 25. I’ve worked in the service and repair areas for both commercial and residential, new construction, tenant improvement and remodels.

Areas of construction, repair and maintenance that you specialize in?

I’ve been in the plumbing industry for almost 25 years and have my journeyman and master plumbing certifications, and I’m also the company’s backflow and cross-connection specialist. In addition, I’ve always enjoyed mechanical work and the overall variety of work we’re involved in day to day. The demands of service and repair are challenging, but they can also be extremely rewarding when they allow me to use my critical thinking, analytic, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills to solve problems and help customers.

What you’re working on this month?

This month, I’ve been traveling back and forth between Northern California and Southern California to help on projects such as a sewer main line dig. We had to dig up and excavate a city sidewalk approximately six feet down, open up an area of six feet by six feet by six feet to expose the city sewer connection and install it to a clean-out because of problems with backups.

Favorite part about helping make a repair or complete an installation to address a customer’s problem?

I always enjoy helping our customers with their service and repair needs. What may be a difficult problem for them to figure out may be an easy one for me, and in these cases, I can help them quickly fix everything and return to business as usual. It’s extremely rewarding to be able to impress our customers with our knowledge and service!

Proudest career accomplishment at MaintenX?

Being able to participate at the 2023 national trade show for ConnexFM, the nation’s largest facilities management organization. I was able to network and make lots of contacts in the industry, answer questions related to my and MaintenX’s areas of expertise, and further familiarize myself with our team members in Tampa and on the East Coast.

Best overall part about working at MaintenX?

The support and freedom the company has given me. I’ve been able to travel around the Southwest and independently manage projects, go to trade shows to further my professional development, and really be included by members of our company across the country and collaborate with them on different projects. Overall, MaintenX has offered a welcoming environment of inclusivity and encouragement.

Things you like to do outside of work?

I love to spend time with family. I have a 19-year-old, Sophia, who is in her first year of college; a 15-year-old, Charlotte, who is in her freshman year of high school. She competes in water polo and swimming meets that I love to catch; and a 3-year-old, Vaughn, who keeps me on my toes and who I love going to the park and riding bikes by the water with.

Favorite movie?

Pulp Fiction.

Favorite place to travel?

One of my favorite places I’ve traveled to was a recent trip to Europe. We went during winter and had a lovely time traveling through London, Amsterdam, and Brussels tasting all the amazing foods and especially the excellent German beers.
