MaintenX Donates 5,000-plus Items to Provide ‘Backpacks of Hope’ to Disadvantaged Students
Our team with some of our school-supply donations for this year’s Backpacks of Hope drive.
What includes hundreds of MaintenX team members, over 5,000 school-supply items, and countless children and teenage lives touched by resources to help them succeed at school?
MaintenX’s annual participation in Metropolitan Ministries’ Backpacks of Hope drive! This July we were thrilled to once again bring together our almost 700-member-strong team and collect over 5,000 school-supply items to help economically disadvantaged students across the Tampa Bay area.
The program provides backpacks, uniforms, and school supplies to disadvantaged children in late summer, at the beginning of each school year, to ensure that as many Tampa Bay students as possible are prepared and set for success for the upcoming school year.

This year our drive took place from July 5 to 26 and brought in more than 5,000 items! Many of our team members contributed by bringing in donations to our office and dropping them off in bins.
But this year, for the first time ever, we also offered an alternative way to contribute. Colleagues could order items from Amazon and have them shipped directly to our office. This alternative contribution method enabled us to expand the Backpacks of Hope drive to a much larger part of our company, since about half of our employees work remotely across the Southeast and don’t regularly have an opportunity to come to our Tampa headquarters.
Our participation in Backpacks of Hope continues an annual charitable tradition with Metropolitan Ministries that also includes companywide programs with Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army, and programs that align with MaintenX’s legacy of improving people’s lives through quick, cost-efficient, and expert repair solutions.
We also give to Metropolitan Ministries by volunteering at its annual holiday tent. There, we help distribute food to needy families by stocking food items at distribution centers, loading them on carts for recipients, and assisting recipients with the transport of food items to their vehicles.
Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties is another charity partner we work with. In June, we completed construction and delivered our seventh Habitat for Humanity house as part of our ongoing program to provide new homes to economically disadvantaged families.

We also contribute to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program to provide toys and gifts to brighten the holidays for disadvantaged Tampa Bay children. Last year, we gave 700-plus items to over 130 children at the South St. Petersburg Salvation Army center, an event that was highlighted by the mass delivery of the gifts by a team of MaintenX employees in a convoy of vehicles.
We’re proud and fortunate that our company can make this commitment to charity each year, and all of us look forward to continuing it for many years to come. Go Team MaintenX!
